The Kisumu National Polytechnic is a premier vocational institution in the Western Region of Kenya focused on helping students keen on excelling in technical professions.
My vision is to help elevate the institution to the level of renowned global institutions, while producing a work force that this country needs in technology and innovation.
My office has the responsibility of coordinating all departments and ensuring that they implement the approved curriculum. We also organize and supervise, on behalf of the Principal, the institution’s activities touching on general administration. These include coordinating human and physical resources, supervising non-teaching operations of the institution.
My other tasks include maintaining student discipline in the institution; coordinating lecturers in the performance of co-curriculum activities and motivation and appraisal of staff. Liaising between the institution and its key stakeholders to cultivate goodwill is also an active role of the office.
To bring about efficient management, the institution operates two boards (management and an academic) as provided for in the legal order KISUMU NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC ORDER of 2014.
As an institution of higher learning, we look forward to being efficient in the delivery of training programs through expanded infrastructure that shall accommodate the rising number of students. Among our initiatives is expanding the internal sponsorship of female students pursuing science and technology courses through partnership with National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). We are also exploring how to strengthen the adoption of solar energy in the institution and the national power grid to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and firewood.
The polytechnic is unique because of its diversity, integration and cohesion evident in the harmony of the student population. We have mentorship programs within the departments to help our students realize their full potential, not only in academics but also in sports, arts and culture.
We operate an open door policy that allows free interaction with our clients and welcomes suggestions and constructive criticism.
To our potential students and all stakeholders, the polytechnic invites parents and students to pursue their training here. Our programs are affordable and we keep our promise of quality service delivery. We have an excellent reputation as one of the most successful training institutions and we hope to extend this to a global level.
We welcome collaboration from our stakeholders and appeal to parents and corporate organizations to sponsor students and to collaborate with us in conducting multi-disciplinary research.
I welcome you all to join us in building The Kisumu National Polytechnic.
