BUILDING DEPARTMENT SLAYS RIVALS IN SPORTS DAY CLASH

Students from the Building department trounced rivals to top the standings at the annual interdepartmental sports competition which took place at the TKNP sports grounds on Friday, February 23, 2018. Competitors from various departments turned up in large numbers to participate in the event that also served as try-outs for the forthcoming KETISA games.

Sports Officer Mr. Ongwacho, presided over the events with other staff members providing support.

Contestants in Short, Mid and long-distance races as well as Discuss, Short Put, Triple Jump, Hammers, High Jump and Javelin battled it out for the top three slots that will qualify them to participate in the try outs. This year’s events saw a reduction in competitors despite a rise in the number of participants and spectators due to scheduling of the events on a week day.

The forthcoming KETISA games that will be held in late March at the Mombasa National Polytechnic where TKNP will field its team. “In the races we will concentrate on the short and mid distance contests (800m and less), and focus on field events such as Rugby, Soccer, Volleyball and others. Prepare yourselves well for this”, said Mr. Ongwacho.

The staff also had a chance to showcase their prowess with a 100m sprint.
