The Kisumu National Polytechnic (TKNP) today hosted the EASTRIP delegation led by the Regional Project Coordinator (RFC) for EASTRIP, Dr. Cosam Chawanga Joseph, on a fact-finding and progress review mission of the institutionโ€™s ongoing construction projects.

TKNP Chief Principal, Mrs. Catherine Kelonye, expressed optimism about the impact of the developments, describing them as transformative and a game-changer for the institution.ย She noted that the projects will significantly enhance training capacity and overall institutional growth.

โ€œThese projects are a true game-changer. We are confident they will greatly enhance training capacity and open up more opportunities for both students and staff. As an institution, we are ready to reap maximum benefits from them,โ€ said Chief Principal Mrs. Catherine Kelonye.

So far, TKNP has trained 22 trainers in Machinery and Textile Technology, with three additional trainers set to be sourced from the Mechanical and Automotive Department.

The World Bankโ€“funded projects, currently at 95% completion, include a 300-bed hostel, a factory, and the RFTTI Training Centreโ€”all designed with inclusive facilities to accommodate Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

Also in attendance were Chief Principals Mutembei Kigigo (Meru National Polytechnic) and Geoffrey Andama (Kenya Coast National Polytechnic), alongside Dr. Charles Nyangara, TKNP EASTRIP Coordinator, Deputy National Project Coordinating Unit (NPCU), Ms. Perpetua Njeru, among other dignitaries.
