Brief History The Examinations Department commenced operations in 1987 when the institution converted into a technical training institute. Initially the department used to register manually about 500 candidates for non-modular KNEC and KASNEB exams at craft and diploma level. Currently the department electronically registers about 1500 candidates for modular KNEC exams at craft, diploma and higher diploma levels. Changes in the institution’s status; from Technical Training Institute to Polytechnic and finally a National Polytechnic, from manual registration to e-registration and from non-modular to modular examinations, have had a bearing on the operations of the department.
