Welcome to the Department of Building and Civil Engineering. I invite you to learn more about our programs and opportunities for
Higher National Diploma, Diploma, Craft Certificate, Artisan courses and CBET courses. We have a long and successful history of educating future Technologists, Technicians and Craftsmen, thanks to the trainers and Technicians of our department, many of whom are regionally and nationally recognized for their contributions to the engineering construction industry. We welcome intellectually motivated, creative and diverse individuals to our Higher National Diploma, Diploma, Craft Certificate education and research programs.
PROFILE
We have a total of
32 trainers and
7 technicians in the department, and all classes are taught by this staff that is active in the profession. The Building and Civil Engineering is ranked among the best departments national wide. The student population is
1600,
300 female student and
1300 male student. The department has witnessed a tremendous increase in female students’ enrolment for the past 5 years.
We aim to become renowned building and civil engineering department focused on sustainable infrastructure and sustainable environment by excelling in targeted and emerging areas of building and civil engineering
research while increasing regional and national visibility in those areas, preparing
students to be successful professionally and by educating them to be leaders in their chosen fields. We also strive to improve on income generating activities through production of masonry components (blocks, paving slabs, side slabs, etc.), carpentry products and material testing laboratories.
